Coquina Beach Weekdays

It's no secret to those that know me. I do not like crowds and will avoid them at all costs. So when I want to enjoy the beach, I will not go on the weekend or during the month of March or during a major holiday break. After fourteen years of living in Florida Coquina Beach in Manatee County is still my favorite. I like that you can park in the shade beneath soft willowy fir trees and the ground is comprised of cool sand, earth and pineneedles. You can hang a hammock between the trees & feed the local squirrels nuts or other healthy snack. There are clean changing huts, picnic tables and the beach and water are close enough to the parking area that you can easily tote your chairs, towels, toys, coolers and umbrellas. If you didn't pack drinks and snacks there's also a great concession stand with burgers, sandwiches, fries, ice cream wine, beer, soda and more. On a day like today where I was working and "passing through" I really wish I planned my day a bit differently so I could take a dip in the warm green blue waters and just be taken away for a little while. Next time.
